‘The Art Project’ by Emilya Colliver is a handbook for the public and private sectors, which covers the complexities of commissioning art in the public realm, the development of placemaking ideas, commissioning artists for developments and how to design an art strategy; where the author demystifies the processes involved in a successful art project.
The visual language draws inspiration from the sentiments of journeying, processes and uncovering the unknown. Throughout ‘The Art Project’, a linear graphic language takes readers through twists and turns; a visual metaphor symbolising guidance and processes. Chapter dividers utilise the graphic language as momentary breakers throughout the handbook, to encourage readers to go on the journey of uncovering. Playful illustrations and graphs are used within the publication to further highlight areas of focus, whilst simple and accessible typesetting conventions are used throughout.
